Aurangabad, Nov 21:

There are 7,130 teachers and non-teaching staff in rural parts of the district. Of which, the health teams completed RT-PCR tests of 5,408 till today evening and reported two persons as Covid-19 positive (one each from Aurangabad and Sillod tehsil).

The education officer (Secondary) B B Chavan said," So far, 11 persons (teachers and non-teaching personnel) have been traced as Covid-19 positive from the rural areas of the district."

There are 824 schools and colleges which run classes from IXth to XIIth in the district. The percentage of persons detected as infected is low. Meanwhile, the district administration has decided to re-open the schools and colleges from Monday. The remaining tests of 1722 personnel (out of 7,130) are expected to be completed by Sunday evening," said the education officer (Primary) Suraj Prasad Jaiswal.

The district collector Sunil Chavan stressed that the combined testing capacities of laboratories at GMCH and BAMU are 3,200. It includes 1,000 testings in the university lab, and more than 2,250 is in the GMCH lab. Hence the administration will complete the tests of all teachers and other staff hailing from rural areas before Monday.
