Aurangabad, Feb 7:

A married woman had come from Pune to Aurangabad to meet her mother. While going to pay obeisance to Lord Khandoba in Satara area on her scooter, miscreants came from behind and snatched her gold chain weighing 1.5 tolas near Riverdale School at Sudhakarnagar area on Sunday afternoon and fled away.

The incidents of chain snatching have increased in the city for the past few days. Kartiki Sambhaji Garad (21, Patil Vasti, Balewadi, Pune) had come to meet her mother at Nakshatrawadi. On Sunday afternoon, she was going to Khandoba temple with her mother, daughter and brother on her scooter. While going on Kokanwadi to Satara village road, two unknown persons came on motorcycle and snatched gold chain from her neck amounting around Rs 60,000. Kartiki shouted for help, but the miscreants fled away till then. A case has been registered at the Satara police station in this regard.

On receiving the information, DCP Nikesh Khatmode, ACP Nishikant Bhujbal, PI Surendra Malale and other policemen visited and inspected the spot.
