Aurangabad, March 5: A youth, Rohit Narwade, whose health worsened after allegedly obtaining a test dose of a medicine at Wockhardt Research Centre, died here this afternoon while being treated at Dhoot Hospital. The relatives claimed that he died because of the excessive dose. A case of accidental death has been registered with the Cidco MIDC police station.

Police said the company has claimed that Rohit was a volunteer at the research centre. He was given a dose of a medicine as part of human trial of new drug on Friday. As his health deteriorated after taking the dose, he was admitted to Dhoot Hospital where he died today at 4 pm.

The relatives claimed that they were not informed which medicines were given to Rohit and for what purpose.

The kin gave their consent to shift the body to the Government Medical College and Hospital after PI Vitthal Pote of the Cidco MIDC police station promised them that proper action will be initiated after the post-mortem report is received.
