Pakistani fast-bowler Wahab Riaz has been deported from England, where he is slated to take part in the inaugural edition of The Hundred tournament. According to reports, Riaz has been deported from England due to visa-related issues as he did not have a work permit that would have allowed him to take part in the franchise league. The 36-year-old was roped in to play for Trent Rockets replacing Aussie speedster Nathan Coulter-Nile. CB confirmed that Riaz had to fly back due to incorrect paperwork. “We are aware that Wahab Riaz has had an issue with his visa and is travelling back to Pakistan to prepare the correct paperwork. Trent Rockets will arrange for a short-term replacement if required," a spokesman for The Hundred told Cricbuzz on Friday.

Meanwhile the Pakistan Cricket Board also said they are in the know but they can’t do anything about it as The Hundred doesn’t fall under their jurisdiction. The inaugural edition of The Hundred is scheduled to take place between July 21 and August 21 in England, where players from all over the world have been picked to take part. The competition will see eight teams representing the cities from across the country, including two that are based out of London. The tournament was originally scheduled to take place in 2020 but sudden outbreak of the COVID-19 disease forced the England Cricket Board (ECB) to postpone the start of The Hundred. Wahab who has represented Pakistan in  27 Tests, 91 ODIs and 36 T20Is has been excluded from Pakistan's central contract list. He is best remembered for his fifer against India at the 2011 World Cup semi-final in Mohali.
