Kolkata Knight Riders managed only 25 runs in the powerplay as the Rajasthan bowlers maintained a straight line and length in the first innings.  Rahul Tripathi, was the only batsman, who looked in any fluency to score runs however even he failed to capitalize on his impressive start. For Rajasthan it was Chriss Morris who shined with the ball as the tall South African scalped four wickets including two in the 20th over. Even with the sluggish nature of the deck, 134 seems below-par unless KKR bowlers produce a magical display.

The KKR batsman failed to get any starts as the execution was quite poor with no batsman showing any intent. Tripathi's relatively pacy cameo was the only positive for the two time champions. RR bowlers showed no signs of  baggage of the previous game as everyone chipped in with vital breakthrough. Both teams are looking for a desperate revival after a hat-trick of defeats. Royals skipper Sanju Samson won the toss and invited Kolkata to bat first. Both teams made changes in their playing XIs. RR brought in Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jaydev Unadkat in place of Manan Vohra and Shreyas Gopal while KKR replaced Kamlesh Nagarkoti with Shivam Mavi.
