2008 IPL champions Rajasthan Royals will play two of their home fixtures in Guwahati in the upcoming season of the cash rich league. The announcement was made by the owner of the Royals, Mr. Manoj Badale. It is for the very first time that a  IPL game will be played in the Northeastern region of the country. 

"The Rajasthan Royals had earlier requested the BCCI to allow them to play some of their home matches in Guwahati, and the Committee of Administrators (CoA) had on 13 August approved their request," said Devajit Lon Saikia, Secretary of the Assam Cricket Association (ACA), as per a report in the Times of India. 

The Royals currently have few academies in different cities and are on the verge of opening their third academy in collaboration with the ACA. The games will be played at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati Assam. The royals have not tasted much success after the first season. The management recently named  Andrew McDonald as their new head coach who replacing South Africa's Paddy Upton.
