Mumbai Indians' young spinner Vignesh Puthur made headlines with a stunning IPL 2025 debut, but it was his post-match interaction with Chennai Super Kings legend MS Dhoni that stole the spotlight. The viral moment sparked curiosity about their conversation, and now the details have emerged.
After Puthur’s impressive spell against CSK, Dhoni approached the youngster during the customary handshakes. The former CSK captain patted Puthur on the back in appreciation and shared a few words of encouragement.

Puthur’s close friend Sreerag later revealed the details. Speaking to The Indian Express, Sreerag said his first question to Puthur was about Dhoni’s words. "Eddaaa, pulli entha da paranchu? (What did MS Dhoni say?) is what I asked first because even my parents were keen to know," he said.
According to Sreerag, Dhoni praised Puthur for his performance and advised him to stay focused. "Dhoni asked him how old is he and told Vignesh to keep doing the same things that have brought him to the IPL," Sreerag added.
Puthur’s debut was a memorable one as he picked up 3-32 in four overs. He dismissed Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shivam Dube, and Deepak Hooda, giving MI a fighting chance. The young spinner has now raised expectations and will look to build on his strong start in the tournament.
