Former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi on Friday selected his all-time World Cup squad. However, Sachin Tendulkar and Imran Khan have not found a place in his squad.
Tendulkar has the highest score of 2278 in the history of ODI World Cup cricket, after Pakistan won the World Cup under Imran Khan. However, Afridi did not include these two in his squad.
Former teammate Saeed Anwar and Australian wicketkeeper-batsman Adam Gilchrist have been named in Afridi's opening squad. Anwar has scored 915 runs in 21 World Cup matches, while Gilchrist has scored 1085 runs in 31 matches.
Australia's World Cup-winning captain Ricky Ponting has since been selected. India captain Virat Kohli has been named in the squad. Kohli has scored 1,030 runs in 26 matches in the Twenty20 and ODI World Cups.
Former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq has been named in Afridi's squad. Inzman-ul-Haq was a member of Pakistan's 1992 World Cup winning team.
With the exception of Imran Khan, Afridi has chosen South African all-rounder Jacques Kallis.
In the bowling department, Afridi has selected three fast bowlers. Wasim Akram, Glenn McGrath and Shoaib Akhtar took 55, 71 and 30 wickets respectively in the World Cup.
Shane Warne and Saqlain Mushtaq have been named in the list of spin bowlers who have taken 32 and 23 wickets respectively in the World Cup.
