India middle-order batsman Suryakumar Yadav has retained his top position in the ICC men’s T20I batting rankings issued on Wednesday, following his impressive show in the just-concluded T20 World Cup in Australia.

The Mumbai batsman was one of the stand out performers for the Men in Blue in the marquee event which saw his stocks rise further.

The performance helped him to achieve a career-best rating of 869 points. Although his rating dropped to 859 after his dismissal for 14 in the semi-final against England.

The Mumbai batsman dethroned Pakistan's Mohammad Rizwan from the top spot to establish himself as one of the top batsman in T20.

The 32-year-old amassed 239 runs during the World Cup at an outstanding average and strike-rate of 59.75 and 189.68 respectively, and also finished as the third highest run-scorer in the event.

Following his impressive show in the shortest format, he was also retained by his IPL franchise Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2023 retentions.
