Asha Bhosle Passes Away: Legendary Singer Dies At 92 In Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital

Veteran singer and Padma Vibhushan awardee Asha Bhosle has passed away. She breathed her last at the age of 92. Her last rites will be held with full state honours. Funeral to take place at Shivaji Park on Monday at 4 PM.  Asha Bhosle was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital on Saturday, April 11, 2026. Initially, it was reported that she was admitted to the hospital because of cardiac arrest, but later her family clarified and stated she was suffering from a chest infection. Her granddaughter, Zanai Bhosle, later shared a health update and requested privacy for the family during this time. Taking to social media, Zanai clarified that the legendary singer has been hospitalised due to a chest infection and extreme exhaustion.

Asha Bhosle is one of India’s most celebrated and versatile playback singers, whose voice has defined generations of Hindi cinema and beyond. Born on September 8, 1933, in Sangli, Maharashtra, she began her career at a young age following the death of her father. Over the decades, she built an extraordinary legacy, recording thousands of songs in multiple languages. Known for her adaptability, she effortlessly moved between classical, pop, cabaret, ghazals, and folk music, earning her a unique place in Indian music history alongside her elder sister Lata Mangeshkar.
