Actress Payal Ghosh  has joined Union Minister Ramdas Athawale's Republican Party of India (Athawale) on Monday. Payal Ghosh joined the party in the presence of party chief Ramdas Athawale. According to news agency ANI, Payal Ghosh has been named as the vice president of women's wing of RPI (A). Welcoming the actor into the party, Ramdas Athawale said, "I thank her for joining the party and I welcome her."As per reports, Payal Ghosh said she joined RPI(A) to do something for the country and thanked Athawale for supporting her in her fight against Kashyap. 

About Athawale, Payal added: "I respect him a lot, so when he offered me this I took a little time to think over it, but realised that through this if I can help people, I can serve the people of the country, then I will be fortunate and agreed to that and joined the party," she added.In September, Payal levelled sexual harassment charges against filmmaker Anurag Kashyap. She also met Athawale, the Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment.At that time, Athawale tweeted extending support to the actress after the meeting, asking Mumbai Police to immediately arrest Anurag Kashyap. In an interview with IANS, Payal claimed that Anurag Kashyap stripped off in front of her and tried to molest her. Kashyap has denied all allegations. Ghosh is a model-turned-actor who was born on November 13, 1989 in Kolkata. She did Political Science Honours from Scottish Church College, Kolkata. Payal made her Hindi film debut in 2017 with Patel Ki Punjabi Shaadi, a romantic comedy, also starring Rishi Kapoor, Paresh Rawal, Vir Das and Prem Chopra.
