Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Wednesday performed the 'mahapooja' of Lord Vitthal and Goddess Rukmini at the temple town of Pandharpur in Solapur district on the occasion of 'Ashadhi Ekadashi'.

CM Thackeray drove himself to Pandharpur, accompanied by his wife Rashmi Thackeray and Tourism Minister Aditya Thackeray. As per the convention, the chief minister performed the pooja with his wife Rashmi Thackeray at the temple of Lord Vitthal at 2.30 am, and prayed to God to make Maharashtra and the country free of coronavirus and to grant peace and prosperity to farmers in the state. During the ritual, Aaditya apparently felt uneasy and returned to his car parked outside the temple for some time.

"I prayed to Mauli. We want to see a miracle. Show us a miracle. Human beings have given up. We don''t have medicine. There is nothing. How to go on with life by covering the mouth with a strip," Thackeray tweeted after the ''mahapooja'' at 2 am along with wife Rashmi.
