COVID-19: Doubling rate of cases increasing in these areas of Mumbai

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is working hard in order to curb the spread of the coronavirus. 

However, the number of cases in areas like Mulund, Ghatkopar and Bhandup have increased rapidly in the last few days. Earlier these areas had less number of COVID-19 cases, but according to reports, over the last few days the cases have increased.

As of May 18, 2020, areas like Dahisar reported 160 cases, Sandhurst Road reported 281 cases, Mulund reported 308 cases, Goregaon reported 406 cases, Bhandup reported 555 cases and Ghatkopar reported 572 cases, had comparatively less number of cases. However, officials are worried about the doubling rate, as the cases have been increasing rapidly.

The doubling rate for areas like Ghatkopar and Mulund is at seven days; doubling rate for Bhandup is eight days and nine days in Dahisar, Sandhurst Road and Goregaon.

Mumbai is one of the worst hit cities by the deadly virus. The count of coronavirus positive patients in Mumbai crossed the 25,000-mark on Thursday.
