The India Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for parts of central Maharashtra and Marathwada as heatwave conditions continue to affect the region. Maximum temperatures have crossed 44 degrees Celsius in several districts over the past three days. A north-south trough is extending from northeast Madhya Pradesh to the Gulf of Mannar. It passes through Vidarbha, Telangana, interior Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. This system may bring light rainfall to isolated areas in Konkan, Goa and central Maharashtra.

On Monday, hot and humid conditions were reported in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna and Beed. Heatwave warnings have been issued for Akola, Nagpur, Chandrapur and Yavatmal. The weather department has forecast similar conditions for the next two days. Since Sunday, residents in Beed, Latur and Dharashiv have been advised to stay indoors during peak afternoon hours. These districts are facing extreme heat, making outdoor movement difficult.
