Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had announced aid packages for various sections of the society in the state under the 'Break the Chain' process. In it, free meals were made available to the poor and needy people of the state under Shivbhojan Thali from 15th April till 14th June 2021. This period has now been extended for one more month and free meals will be made available to the poor people of the state till July 14, 2021 under the scheme.

Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has approved the proposal for extension of free meals sent by Food and Civil Supplies Minister Chhagan Bhujbal. The scheme, which was launched on January 26 last year to provide wholesome meals at Rs 10, has from 15th April to 17th June served 90,81,587 'thalis'.

Under Shivbhojan Thali Yojana, 441 new centers have been sanctioned in the state, which has increased the number of Thali by 44,300 per day. So far 1332 Shiv Bhojan Kendras have been sanctioned in the state. Out of the 441 newly sanctioned centers, some have already started and some will start soon. At present, there are 1043 Shiv Bhojan Kendras in the state.
