Maratha Arakshan Action Samiti in a round table conference held by Maratha leaders in Kolhapur on Wednesday, has decided to call a state-wide bandh on October 10.

The Maratha Arakshan Action Samiti (MAAS) had organized a state level round table conference in Kolhapur on Wednesday. Suresh Patil Convenor of the MAAS said that the 'bandh' decision was taken unanimously as the participants were disappointed by the MVA government measures to give relief the agitating community.

The Maharashtra government on Tuesday took several measures to give relief to the protesting community, including giving community members benefits meant for EWS, in view of the supreme court staying the Maratha reservation in jobs and education.

The Maharashtra Cabinet also decided to offer jobs in Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation to heirs of those who lost lives during the Maratha quota protests.

On September 9, the Supreme Court directed that no quota will be granted to people of the Maratha community in education and jobs in the state this year and referred the hearing on a batch of plea challenging the constitutional validity of a Maharashtra law granting Maratha reservation in education and jobs to a larger bench.
