A student reportedly took his own life at Chikni Pada, Kalyan in the eastern part of the city on Sunday night, leaving behind a distressing note. In the note, the student stated, "Dad, my departure will reduce your expenses. Please don't be angry with your sister. I am ending my life because the teacher and a boy are angry with me." The Kolsewadi police have registered a case and are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the suicide.

Pramod Kumar Patra, who lives with his family in Chiknipada, was away at work on Sunday while his wife and daughter were also out. During their absence, his 13-year-old son, Vignesh Patra, took his own life by hanging himself. Upon returning home, Pramod Kumar Patra discovered Vignesh’s lifeless body and was deeply distressed by the tragic scene.

Vignesh Patra, an eighth-grade student, took his own life, leaving behind a note that read: "Papa, my departure will reduce your expenses. Don't be angry with your sister. I am committing suicide after being teased by the teacher and the boy." The police have indicated that a case will be registered once a formal complaint is received from the family.

Congress Women's President Kanchan Kulkarni has urged the police to take concrete action against the teacher responsible for mentally harassing Vignesh. She has also called for a thorough investigation to determine if other children have faced similar issues. Kulkarni said that justice must be served for Vignesh's family.
