Normal life was disrupted due to severe waterlogging after heavy rains lashed Mumbai and other parts of Maharashtra on Wednesday with the advance of the monsoon in the state.

Due to lack of proper planning of sewers and non-cleaning of gutters, sewer water overflowed and entered many houses in the first rains. BJP's Rohidas Munde has demanded that the municipality should make arrangements for the accommodation of residents in order to prevent any mishap. At the same time, Munde also demanded an inquiry into the non-cleaning of drains and sewers.

The municipality in indulged in ‘hath safai’ instead of ‘nullah safai’, Munde said. The leader also alleged that same situation is in Diva region where non-cleaning of drains and sewers has led to sewer water overflow.

At this time, the municipality has done road works in many places in Diva. However, as the gutters and the main nullahs have not been properly cleaned in the first rains, the drains and sewers have been flooded in the first rain. The sewer water overflow as a result has entered in chawls of Diva. He demanded that action be taken against the contractors and officials for not cleaning the streets.
