Mumbai: Biker Risks Child’s Life in Goregaon, Netizens Call for Heavy Fine (Watch Video)

A video from Mumbai has drawn widespread attention after circulating rapidly across social media platforms. Following the clip’s viral spread, the police also took cognisance of the matter. The footage shows a man riding a motorcycle while carrying a small child in an extremely unsafe manner, raising serious concerns about road safety and parental responsibility. The video was shared by the Safe Road Squad account and was reportedly recorded on the MTNL Road flyover in Goregaon West. The incident is said to have taken place on February 19, prompting outrage among viewers online.

Social media users demanded strict action against the rider under the Motor Vehicles Act and tagged Mumbai Police as well as the office of the Police Commissioner to draw urgent attention to the violation. Many called for a heavy fine and appropriate punishment to discourage such reckless behaviour. The clip was also reposted by the ‘Roads of Mumbai’ account, where strong criticism was expressed. One user angrily remarked that watching such videos explains why a human life in the city is valued at merely five lakh rupees, reflecting deep frustration over road safety lapses.

Among those who reacted strongly was Divya Gandotra Tandon, who condemned what she described as irresponsible parenting. She pointed out that the child was being carried on a moving motorcycle without any protective measures, putting the youngster at grave risk. She warned that a sudden brake, imbalance, or accidental slip could have resulted in a tragic mishap. Emphasising the seriousness of the act, she urged authorities to take firm and immediate action against the individual involved to prevent similar dangerous incidents in the future.
