The construction work of the Gokhale Bridge that links the eastern and western Andheri is running swiftly. The bridge is expected to open entirely by the first week of May. However, traffic movement is expected to start from the second week of May.

The Bridge Department of the Municipal Corporation is working on this project. In December 2022, Contractors were appointed to rebuild the bridge. However, there was a huge gap created at the place where the Gokhale Bridge and Barfiwala Bridge were expected to be connected.

To solve this issue, a huge discussion happened among the authorities at the administrative level. They tried to figure out a way to close the gap between the bridges. They also took help from the VJTI, and it gave some solutions after inspecting the bridge. The municipal corporation took all the measures VJTI suggested, but this led to an increase in the cost of the bridge.

As of March 12, 2025, Deck concreting was completed over Sahar Road; concretization of the road on the approach ramp is underway, and the final girders were placed on the east side.

In the first phase, light vehicles were allowed to commute via this bridge from February 26, 2024. In the second phase, the construction work on the railway section was done. Additional Commissioner Abhijit Bangar has directed that the work on the access road within the municipal limits be completed by the end of April.
