Nagpur, May 26

The State Board of Education is considering to conduct class 12th examination in July-August. However, a final consensus has not been made on this yet. A final decision may be take place in the first week of June. Along with this, a proposal will be sent to the state government for approval.

According to sources, the board officials opine that it is not right to conduct the examination in June, because doctors have predicted a third wave of Covid infection in July.

In view of the above prediction, it is not right to take any risk. Around 15 lakh students from all over the state will appear for the examination. In such a situation, there will be a big responsibility on the board to protect health of students.

The board members reasoning behind taking the exam in mid-July is that by that time it will be clear how much is the risk of Covid infection. There is a possibility of a third wave or not. If the pace of Covid infection is slow, then only the board will take a decision to conduct the examination in July-August.

However, given the current state of Covid infection, officials are hopeful that the intensity of infection will reduce considerably in July-August. Everyone is taking steps to prevent infection. Parents are also vigilant about the health of children and by all parameters, it would be feasible to conduct the examination in July-August. The secretary of the board could not be contacted for his comment in this regard.

Planning of the board

Sources said that the board officials plan to conduct the examination from mid-July. The examination should be completed in the first week of August. Students have already got enough time to study. So the test can be taken every day. After the examination is over in the first week of August, the results should be announced by the second week of September. For this, the answer sheets will have to be evaluated on the lines of spot valuation, so that the time taken to carry the answer sheets is saved.
