Devprayag, Uttarakhand (April 12, 2025): Five people died early this morning when a Thar SUV veered out of control and plunged into a deep gorge near Mulyagaon in the Devprayag area. The vehicle fell approximately 300 meters into the Alaknanda River. The incident occurred on National Highway 58. Initial reports indicate the driver lost control while navigating a bend in the road.

Following a call from local villagers, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) quickly launched a rescue operation. Led by Inspector Manjari Negi, the team used rafts to reach the site and search for the victims. Despite their efforts, all five occupants were confirmed dead.

According to media reports, the bodies were recovered from the vehicle after it was cut open with rescue tools. They were then transported out of the gorge using stretchers and handed over to the district police. The deceased have been identified as Sunil Gusain, his wife Meenu, their sons Sujal and Nukku, and Aditya, the son of Madan. All five were residents of Faridabad.
