Having intimate scenes in romantic or bold movies is a necessity of the story, so directors have to shoot such scenes. Also, many viewers are attracted by the bold scenes. At present, intimate scenes have increased more in the OTT medium.

You must have seen that many movies, web series have intimate scenes, kissing scenes. But the question must have arisen as to how these scenes are shot. Will the actress be willing to give the scene easily in front of the director, crew members? So it is not necessary that the scene is shot as it looks.
Often actresses refuse to give intimate scenes. Then the director has a plan B ready. The director uses a body double for this. The scene is shot differently depending on the need of the story and what the actress says.
If the hero or heroine will not give a bold scene, then the beauty shots have to be created by creating an illusion. Certain devices of cinematography are used to make the audience feel that a lot has happened as soon as something happens.
Often a director shoots a scene with chroma shots. Shoot with a blue or green cover and then remove it during editing. For example, during a kissing scene vegetables like carrots, pumpkins are placed between the two.
An actor can decide how far he wants to be from another actor's body while giving an intimate scene. The Intimacy Coordinator also respects the performer's decision. Some props like soft cushions, crotch guards, modesty garments are used for this purpose.
Before shooting any intimate scene, consent of both is required. Also, care is taken that the private parts of the two do not touch each other. For this, a logard cushion or an air bag is used for the actor just like the cricket players.
