Budget session in Bengal to be adjourned after Tuesday

In view of the growing coronavirus scare, the Budget Session of the West Bengal Assembly will be adjourned after transacting some legislative business on Tuesday.

Kolkata, March 16 In view of the growing coronavirus scare, the Budget Session of the West Bengal Assembly will be adjourned after transacting some legislative business on Tuesday.

"The Assembly will be adjourned after its sitting on Tuesday when some important bills are slated to be passed," Speaker Biman Banerjee told mediapersons after a business advisory committee meeting.

Leaders of all the parties were present at the meeting which discussed the preventive measures in the House as also the Assembly premises to ward off any chance of a coronavirus outbreak.

BJP legislative party leader Manoj Tigga backed the Speaker's decision, calling it "a special situation".
