Aurangabad, Feb 4:The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) administrator, A K Pandey, has claimed that the Hyderabad-based GVPR company has started constructing six elevated storage reservoirs (ESRs) in the city, as a part of the new water supply scheme of Rs 1680 crore, today. He also mentioned starting a field survey by the company to lay down the main pipelines between Jayakwadi Dam to Master Balancing Reservoir (MBR) at Nakshatrawadi. It may be noted that the CM had performed the bhoomipujan of the new water supply scheme in the city, on December 12, 2020.Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran (MJP) is the nodal agency for the water project. Ironically, it is claimed that the contractor has started the job before receiving the work order!It may be noted that the technical hindrances are resolved, and the MJP will be issuing work order to the company after 40 days of the bhoomipujan. The MJP was waiting for the contractor to submit the bank guarantee.Pandey claimed that the construction of ESRs at six locations including Garware Stadium, Delhi Gate, T V Centre and Shivajinagar had been started.It may be noted that the GVPR has been awarded the contract of Rs 1308 crore (Part I). However, the project has been revised, and approval to the provision of fund of Rs 1437 crore for it has been made in the budget, it is learnt. The work is expected to be completed in three years. At the outset, the company will have to construct ESRs at 15 different locations in the city.The administrator also mentioned that three government agencies - AMC, MIDC and MSRDC - were responsible for developing 23 roads in the city through the state government funds of Rs 152 crore. Of which, the construction of a few roads is completed, and few roads are in the last phase of the completion.
