Nagpur, Oct 19Home minister Anil Deshmukh said that the police would take stern action against government officers and white collared people for helping land mafia. If they were found involved in any deal, then then he will leave no stone unturned to teach them a lesson. he said. Deshmukh was discussing with reporters after the grievance redressal camp started for action against the land mafia on Monday.He said that police have got about 300 complaints. 50 complaints have been take up in the first phase. The complaints have been sent to economic branch and the concerned DCP of the related place. They will launch deep investigation and take action against the culprits, he said.Of the complaints received today, it has been asked to register cases in 8 complaints. The police will not spare anyone who helps the land mafia. Then whether he is a government officer-employee, white collar or a leader, he added.He said that a grievance redressal camp has been started from Nagpur as a pilot project. “It will also be implemented in other districts of the state,” he said.On the question of saving the officers or leaders, Deshmukh said that in the last few days the Nagpur Police have taken action against the land mafia and demolished the bungalows of criminals like Shahil Syed and Santosh Ambekar and this has happened for the first time in the city.On drawing attention to the increase in cyber fraud cases, the home minister said that it is necessary to increase the capacity of the cyber cell. Apart from the state, such efforts will be made at the district level.On the question of increasing the rate of punishment in the state, Deshmukh said that recently the state''s conviction rate is 49 per cent. “To increase this, a DIG of MP has made a presentation. This presentation will be shown in Mumbai on Tuesday. Other states have also been approached to increase the rate of punishment. The work of those responsible for the punishment will also be monitored,” he said.On the question of not being able to rein in the smuggling of arms from neighboring states, police commissioner Amitesh Kumar said that an inter-state meeting will be held soon. The police can go to the neighboring state and take action easily.‘Police are doing better work’Home minister said that by taking action on illegal businesses like cricket bookie, hawala businessman, and smugglers, the police have given their intentions. “Nagpur got the honor of crime city. Let it be known that the transfer of officials has been delayed for a long time,” he said.
