Aurangabad, April 4:

Two persons after offering Namaz in the

mosque went for swimming in the lake at Gandheli Shivar where both drowned on

Sunday afternoon.

The deceased have been identified as Atiq

Aqeel Shaikh (18) and Nadim Naser Shaikh (17, both residents of Nurani Mosque

area, Garkheda).

Around 10 friends had gone at the farm of

Babubhai at Gandheli Shivar for picnic. After the lunch, they went to Gandheli

village and offered Namaz at the mosque. Atiq and Nadim left all the friends

and returned on motorcycle. On the way, they stopped at a lake near new Beed

By-pass road and could not resist their desire for swimming. Both of them

jumped in the water but could not come up as they were not having any idea

about the depth of the water and were drown.

Meanwhile, the other friends were also coming

from behind and they saw Atiq and Nadeem’s cloths on the bank of the lake. Some

of them jumped in the lake and tried to search them but could not find them.

Then the called the nearby residents and they informed about the incident to

the Chikalthana police. PI Vishwas Patil and his team rushed to the spot and

with the help of the local residents took both of them from the lake in unconscious

condition. They were taken to the Government Medical College and Hospital

(GMCH) where the doctors declared them dead after examination.

Both Atiq and Nadeem belonged to poor

families. Atiq’s father is a tractor driver while Nadeem’s father is a labour.

A case has been registered at the Chikalthana police station.
