Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

An elderly couple, who had to resort to fasting outside their own home due to their tenant refusing to vacate their own property, has finally achieved success in their fight. On Friday, the MIDC Cidco police filed a case against three individuals from the same family who had attempted to seize the couple’s shop.

The accused are Nitin Anant Dasharathe (54), Rohit Nitin Dasharathe (28), and Geeta Nitin Dasharathe (50), all residents of Parimal Building, Khadkeshwar. The complainant, Elizabeth Gulshan Batra (71), lives on Prozone Mall Road in N-1 with her husband. Their children live abroad. A few years ago, they had rented out a shop in front of their house to the Dasharathe family to open a small mall. A formal agreement was also made for this. After the contract expired, the Batra couple requested them to vacate the premises. However, the Dasharathe family refused and also stopped paying the rent.

Justice finally delivered, though late

The Batra couple had repeatedly approached the police station and the offices of senior officials in their pursuit of justice. When the Dasharathe family refused to vacate the property, the Batra couple was left with no choice but to begin fasting in front of their own house in June 2024. Finally, on Friday, the police took action and filed a case based on their complaint. PSI Vishnu Mundhe is conducting further investigations. Besides, regarding the plot next to the Batras' property, the Dasharathe family had submitted false documents to deceive the landowner and the court. A case was filed against them at Vedantnagar Police Station on January 7 for this fraudulent act.
