Aurangabad, April 16:

Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has purchased 10,000 Remdesivir injections for the Meltron Hospital at Chikalthana Industrial area. Around 4000 of which have been utilized in just ten days. The patients capacity of the hospital is 250 while 300 Remdesivir are being used daily here, the sources said. Hence, it is being questioned that whether the black marketing of the injections is being done at Meltron like the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).

In the increasing Corona pandemic situation, Remdesivir is in great demand. Although it is not a life-saving drug, doctors are using it extensively. Last month, AMC purchased 10,000 injections for Rs 650 each directly from the company, 2000 were given to the GMCH. On Friday, the police seized Remdesivir injections being black marketed at the GMCH and it was found that it was the same supplied by the AMC. In the shocking information, it was found that around 300 Remdesivirs are used at Meltron daily. It meant that approximately 85 percent of the patients are given injections. In the past 10 days, around 4,000 injections have been utilized. Presently, there are 3980 injections in the stock. The consent of the relatives of the patients has been taken while administering the injections. The vials cannot be stored for more days as it gets contaminated, said AMC medical officer Dr Neeta Padalkar.
