Aurangabad, May 28:

Mucormycosis is spreading its wings

while the number of patients in the district has reached to 399 now. Similarly,

the deaths due to Mucormycosis are also on the rise. The experts opined that

this disease is caused due to the weaker immunity and is not contagious.

Many people after recovering from

Covid-19 suffered Mucormycosis. The reasons are used of steroids, ventilator

and oxygen. Uncontrolled suger is also one of the reasons. People are panicked

as the post Covid patients are suffering for this disease. The medicines are

costly and are not easily available. Hence, the post Covid patients are

worried.

Diabetologist Dr Nilesh Lomte said,

only percent of post Covid patients have suffered from Mucormycosis. It can be

completely cured if diagnosed in early stage and with proper treatment. The symptoms

are headache, swelling on face and eyes, nostrils choked. The patients should

immediately contact the doctors in case of such symptoms. Recovery rate in this

disease is more than 90 percent, he said.

ENT surgeon Dr Vasant Pawar said.

Mycormycosis is caused by black fungus. The fungus attacks the body when the

body immunity is weakened. This disease is not spread through contact. The

danger is more if the fever goes in the head, he said.
