Aurangabad, Oct 25:

A total of 482 two-wheelers and 217 four-wheelers were registered with the Regional Transport Office (RTO) of the city during the last two days on the occasion of Vijayadashmi.

The RTO earned revenue in lakhs of rupees. Some citizens preferred to take a new vehicle home one day before Dussehra festival. So, the highest number of vehicles were registered on Saturday. The RTO office was opened on Sunday for registration of new vehicles.

As many as 430 two-wheelers and 113 four-wheelers were sold on Saturday while 52 two-wheelers and 104 four-wheelers registered on Sunday. Chief cashier Pramod Lokhande, assistant cashier Sharda Garud, network administrator Tushar Bawaskar, junior clerk Pravin Kakde and others guidance of RTO Sanjay Metrewar worked even on Dussehra.

The vehicle''s market was hit badly due to the spread of Novel coronavirus. With more relaxations in Unlocks, registration of new vehicles increased in the RTO from August.Nearly 3,000 vehicles are registered monthly in the city and their number is likely to go up in the coming days. RTO Sanjay Metrewar said that his office received revenue of Rs 2.33 crore in two days in the form of new vehicle registration charges and tax.
