Aurangabad, July 17:

The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) had received 6,000 doses of the Covishield vaccine on Friday night. Hence the civic health officials geared up and arranged to give vaccines through 39 vaccination centres on Saturday. The centres witnessed huge responses and the stock of vaccines got finished in a span of four hours.

There were 200-250 vaccines left in the stock and no vaccination schedule will be there on Sunday. Moreover, if the civic body gets fresh stock of vaccines by tomorrow evening then only the AMC would be able to conduct the vaccination drive on Monday.

The citizens, who were desirous to have the second dose rushed to the 34 centres. Many of them returned empty-handed as they could not obtain the token. Each centre was administering 150 vaccines. The stock got finished in four hours. There was no rush at five centres giving the first dose as it was mandatory for the citizens to have online registration on Cowin App.

It may be noted that considering the possibility of the third wave, the AMC is taking its efforts to vaccinate 70 per cent of citizens in the city, but the inadequate supply of the vaccine is disappointing many of the desirous citizens as well as the civic administration, for the past many weeks.
