Aurangabad, Jan 21:

The municipal commissioner and the administrator of Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) A K Pandey today has ordered a suspension of civic personnel for not distributing demand notice of property tax to the property-holders in Naregaon.

It so happened that the civic chief today visited Naregaon. During his interaction with the shopkeepers inquired about the demand notice, but they told him that they had not received any statement relating to property tax. On inquiry, Pandey came to know that the civic employee Prabhu Chavan is responsible for distributing the demand notice. Hence, he immediately contacted the AMC's establishment officer on the phone and told to issue the suspension order of Chavan.

As reported earlier, to enhance property tax and water tax recovery during the current financial year, the civic chief has directed each ward officer to spend at least two hours (daily) with recovery squad and distribute the demand notice of property tax in the jurisdiction. He had also authorised the senior officers to serve show-cause notices to employees and ward officers if their performance is poor and unsatisfactory.
