Aurangabad, April 20:

The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) was coerced to wind up the vaccination drive after the stock of Covid-19 vaccine got exhausted today in the afternoon. Earlier, the AMC distributed 6,000 doses of vaccine to various centres today morning. Meanwhile, the AMC had sent a special van to bring the vaccine from Mumbai and it is expected to return by tonight. It is feared that the AMC would have to halt the drive tomorrow if the vaccine van does not arrive by late in

the evening.

As reported earlier, the AMC had placed an order for one lakh doses of vaccine during the last week, but it was supplied 40,000 only. As a result, the civic administration was pursuing more vaccines for the past few days. It also alerted the health department that they had vaccine stock of one day only, on Monday.

The municipal officer of health (MoH) Dr Neeta Padalkar said, " The vaccination drive was halted in the middle after the stock of vaccine got finished at some centres. We are hopeful that the vaccine van will arrive in the city by tomorrow early morning."
