Aurangabad, April 7:

The dire need for oxygen to the critical Covid-19 patients has pushed the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) to worry. It has now decided to equip 1,000 beds with oxygen facilities in a month, said the municipal officer of health (MoH) Dr Neeta Padalkar.

Presently, there are 120 beds with oxygen facilities, out of 300, in the Meltron Hospital, situated at Chikalthana MIDC. The AMC has plans to equip all these 300-beds in the hospital with oxygen facilities along with 300 beds in Covid Care Centre (CCC) at MIT College, 250-beds in CIPET CCC and 150 beds in Deogiri College CCC. The oxygen to the patients will be supplied through a network of pipe drawing from a jumbo cylinder. The task would take at least one month to complete, said Dr Padalkar.

Meanwhile, the health officials grieved that majority of citizens preferring home treatment on having fever or other symptoms. They rush for testing only when the health condition deteriorates. Besides, they also delay in getting admitted to the hospitals. Hence the situation goes beyond the control and such patients direly need oxygen and ventilators for health stability. Hence the citizens should take the vaccine first and if there is an attack of Coronavirus then it would be mild. The testing and treatment on time are in need of the hour, they said.
