Aurangabad, May 21:

The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) and the police administration, in their joint operation, conducted Covid tests of 4,551 persons and detected 88 persons as Coronavirus infected in the past one and a half months.

It may be noted that the state government had implemented the lockdown to prevent the spreading of the Coronavirus. Hence all the commercial and semi-commercial markets are closed, but the essential commodities shops are allowed to remain open daily from 7 am to 11 am. However, seeing the rush of people on the road after 11 am forced the AMC to activate its Nagarik Mitra Pathak. The AMC started fining Rs 500 from each person found on the road without wearing a mask. The daily collection recorded was around Rs 50,000. However, this action did not prove to be effective as the rush continued on the roads. Hence the joint action was undertaken by AMC and the police and they detected 88 infected persons while moving in the city.

10 checking centres

The AMC had constituted 10 teams after the implementation of the lockdown. The teams with the help of police conduct the on-the-spot tests daily from 10 am to 5 pm and 5 pm to 11 pm.

Good recovery rate

It may be noted that 1.39 lakh Covid-19 patients had been detected, so far. Out of which, 1.29 lakh citizens had been recovered from the ailment.
