Aurangabad, Feb 20:

The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) administrator A K Pandey has today clarified that the AMC is keeping a close watch on the ongoing developments relating to Covid-19 in the city. As a result, the decision over conducting the weekly bazaars and other issues would be taken at the appropriate time.

It may be noted that following the rise in Coronavirus patients in various districts, the respective collectors and the municipal commissioners decided not to conduct the weekly bazaars in their jurisdictions. Two days ago, the chief minister had held a video-conference meeting and authorised the municipal commissioners to take appropriate measures and decisions in this regard.

Pandey further mentioned having constituted a committee including the divisional commissioner and the district collector to assess the situation and take appropriate decision accordingly. The same policy decision will be taken in conducting tests at all entry points of the city. The government has fixed some protocols, and the action would be taken according to them.

Meanwhile, the AMC has presently started taking severe action against the citizens moving in the city area without wearing face masks, said Pandey adding the focus is also on conducting tests at coaching classes, railway station, airport and persons coming in contact with the positive patients. The house of positive persons would be sealed. The AMC may also seal the area or locality, like before with the tins, if a large number of patients are identified from there, he said.
