Aurangabad, July 8:

The state government has announced crores of rupees fund for various development works in the city to the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) in the past few years. However, the civic administration has landed into financial trouble and is unable to complete the development works it had launched. The AMC direly needs an immediate release of an outstanding of Rs 140 crore for the development of roads and a garbage processing plant.

The state government announced releasing of Rs 277 crore to AMC in three phases. The Maha Vikas Aghadi-led government has granted an aid of Rs 152 crore for the development of roads under the third phase. Of which, Rs 35 crore is yet to be released. Besides, the construction of new roads had been completed 90-95 percent. However, the work of a couple of roads is lying incomplete for want of a fund of Rs 20 crore. Besides, the then saffron alliance government had approved the DPR of valuing Rs 147 crore for solid waste management. Accordingly, the AMC vowed to establish garbage processing plants at Chikalthana, Padegaon, Harsul, and Kanchanwadi. Barring Harsul, all three plants are functioning today. However, the AMC is waiting to get the remaining fund of Rs 68 crore from the state government. The AMC gets a one percent share in the stamp duty earned by the state government through the sale-purchase of properties at the registration branch. However, the state government has not released the share of Rs 17 crore to AMC since December 2020.
