Bamu tops in receiving research scholarship in State

Aurangabad, June 17:

A total of 645 research students from Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (Bamu) received a scholarship during the last five years.

Vice-chancellor Dr Pramod Yeole said that the highest number of researchers from Bamu had got the scholarship in the State.

The Central and State Government provide scholarships for different research faculties. Each selected candidate gets an average of Rs 30,000 to Rs 35,000 monthly for five years.

A total of 645 research students from 2015-16 to 2020-21 from within the university’s jurisdiction got a scholarship. Of them, 31 received scholarship National Fellowship for Higher Education, 77 candidates of Maulana Azad Fellowship for Minorities, NET-JRF 61, 163 Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj Research Training and Human Development Institute (SARTHI), 43 Dr Babassaheb Ambedkar Research and Training Institute (BARTI).

This year, 207 candidates appeared for SARTHI scholarship while 100 of them are from Bamu’s jurisdiction. Commenting on this, VC Dr Pramod Yeole said that students from Marathwada are hardworking and have potential.

“The youths can do good research if they get proper guidance. This has been proved time and again. It's good news that the highest number of researchers from our university received a scholarship in the State. They have brought laurels to the university,” he added.
