Aurangabad, April 7:

The state government has directed to keep the salons close in the state till April 30. The Maharashtra Nabhik Mahamandal along with barber community brethren has opposed this decision. After burning the government order in the bonfire, the Mahamandal has decided to initiate agitation across the state, informed the Marathwada divisional president of the Mahamandal, Vishnu Vakhare.

He said, the barbers and their family members are facing the starvation situation for the past one year. They faced severe hardship due to lockdown last year. Around 16 barbers committed suicide in the state.

Hence, permission should be granted to the barbers to start the salons between 7 am and 8 pm like the other businesses.

An effigy of the government will be burnt on April 10, Thali – Ghanta agaitation on April 14 and demonstrations against the government on April 18 and head shaving agitation on April 18 will be held, Vakhre said.

The state president Dattatray Anarase, state executive president Ambadas Patil, general secretary Dilip Anarthe, Ghansham Wagh, Pasunil Popale, district president Sudhakar Aher, city president Sambhaji Wagh, Appasaheb Dalvi and others have appealed the barbers to participate in the agitation in large number.
