Aurangabad, Jan 15:

The Crime branch and Cidco MIDC police arrested four smugglers smuggling 57.382 kgs Marijuana amounting Rs 12,86,910 in a car at Old Chikalthana By-pass on Thursday night. The police have seized the Marijuana and the car.

The arrested have been identified as Ramchandra alias Bandya Raosaheb Pimple (Chaudhary Colony, Chikalthana), Vishwanath alias Kolya Pandit Pimple (Sanjaynagar, Mukundwadi), Sunil Shivaji Pawar (Kandhar, Karmala, Solapur) and Ram Ashok Gawande (Sainagar, Garkheda).

The crime branch police received the information that Marijuana is being smuggled in a car in the city from the Old Chikalthana By-pass Road. Under the guidance of ACP Suresh Wankhede, PI Avinash Aghav, Vitthal Pote, police team including PSI Vitthal Chaskar, Meera Lad, Nankumar Bhandare, Satish Jadhav and others laid a trap at the Old Chikalthana By-pass Road on Thursday night. The police stopped the suspected car (MH 20 BY 1957), but the passengers in it on the sight of the police started running from the car. However, the police nabbed them. The car was searched in the presence of the Panch and found that Marijuana was hiding in the plastic bags under the seats. The police seized 57.382 kgs amounting Rs 12,86,910 Marijuana and the car. A case has been registered against the accused at the Cidco MIDC police station.
