Aurangabad, March 22:

The COVID vaccine creates antibodies after 15 days of taking a second dose. There is a possibility of 19 per cent getting infected from the pandemic virus after administering doses. However, a vaccinated patient may have mild symptoms of COVID on detection of positive. Experts feel that one needs to use a mask even after vaccination. All should get vaccinated without any fear or doubt.

The district has both doses. It is effective between 72 per cent to 81 pc. There is less possibility of admitting a patient to the hospital when the second dose is administered to him.

When the vaccine is injected into a patient, it prompts the immune system to start making antibodies and fight against coronavirus infection.

The experts say that no vaccine is 100 per cent effect and the COVID vaccine has no exception to it.

Dean of Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) Dr Kanan Yelikar who had taken two doses of vaccine and was found COVID positive. The vaccine helped her in avoiding severe symptoms.

As she had no severe symptoms, she preferred to get admitted in a private hospital and made GMCH’s oxygen bed for needy patients. Health officer of Aurangabad Municipal Corporation Dr Neeta Padalkar who too was administered two doses was detected positive.

She had no severe symptoms and preferred to take treatment at home isolation because of vaccination.

Vaccination Nodal officer and head of Department of Community Medicine Dr Jagannath Dixit said that Covishield and Covaxin are very effective.

“Antibodies develop in the human body after 15 days of the second dose. If anyone is infected,he/she may have mild symptoms and the threat of death is reduced. So, people should take a vaccine without any fear and doubt. Currently, we have mask and vaccine, so we should use them,” he added.
