Aurangabad, Jan 20:

The number of vaccinations increased by 10 per cent on Wednesday. However, the vaccination rate in the district remained below 50 per cent. During the day, 443 out of 984 health workers, or 45 per cent, were vaccinated, but as many as 55 per cent of Corona warriors avoided vaccination. The declining number of new covid patients, reduced number of deaths and the fear of reaction are all affecting vaccination.

Vaccination was carried out in 4 hospitals in rural areas, 5 private hospitals and Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in the city. In rural areas, only 49 out of 400 people were vaccinated on Tuesday. In comparison, 126 out of 400 people were vaccinated on Wednesday. There is a demand to change the vaccination centres in rural areas. But that is being ignored. There are vaccination centres at Vaijapur, Sillod, Pachod and Ajanta. Health workers in other tehsils, including the district civil hospital in the city, have to wait for vaccinations. District surgeon Dr Sundar Kulkarni said there was an increase in vaccinations compared to Tuesday. The CoWIN app still has some issues.

54 per cent vaccination in the city

A total of 317 out of 584 health workers were vaccinated on Wednesday at vaccination centres in five private hospitals in the city and the GMCH. Vaccination rate remained at 54.28 per cent. GMCH health workers turned their backs on vaccinations as only 16 out of 100 people were vaccinated.

9 suffered reaction

Five people had minor reactions after vaccination at Dr Hedgewar hospital. One each at Seth Nandlal Dhoot Hospital, Kamalnayan Bajaj hospital and two at Medicover hospital had minor reactions, said municipal health officer Dr Nita Padalkar.
