Aurangabad, Oct 31:

The Congress had spoken of contesting the forthcoming municipal corporation election on its strength. The statement, however, pushes one to think on what basis the party made the statement and whether the party has an adequate workforce to fight against the opposition parties.

The polarisation of votes has affected the party badly. It does not have any vote bank as on today. Moreover, the party does not have any MP or MLA in the district. There is no berth in the legislative council as well. Today, Congress is a leaderless party in the district.

The party appointed key office-bearers in June. It is like a mission impossible for them to bring back the old situation and win the elections. The newly appointed district president and city president are working with the old office-bearers only. The new body has not come into existence.

Shiv Sena started dominating the city in 1988. The saffron party can think of contesting the civic elections on its strength. Sena succeeded in creating a Hindu vote bank. It promoted all the small leaders of different sects and made them big leaders. Congress ignored it intentionally. Meanwhile, all politicians are claiming that the statement was made by the contact minister to motivate the activists and party workers. The final decision will be taken, considering the real situation on time. Congress is facing a gradual decline in the district since 2014.

In 2015 civic elections, Hyderabad''s AIMIM party got huge success. This has shocked the party. The polarisation of votes by AIMIM has finished '' Ache Din'' of Congress.

Moreover, Congress never tried to strengthen the wards. There are no ward presidents and ward committees. The party does not get activists to sit in booths on voting day. In this pitiful situation, how could even Congress think of fighting elections on its (which) strength is a question?
