Aurangabad, Jan 12:

The Aurangabad cantonment residents no longer have to visit the Aurangabad Cantonment Board (ACB) office for services such as securing birth and death certificates, trade licenses, GLR extract, property tax payment, among others. All these services have now been introduced via the ‘E-Chawni’ online system by the Director General Defense Estates (DGDE) at all cantonments in the country, including in Aurangabad.

In Phase-I, e-Chawni brings many services for the citizens of cantonment area through portal like lodging public grievance pertaining to cantonment board, submitting applications for trade license, making online payments through m-Collect, module, submitting online application for renewal, extension of lease etc. General public can access these services online at https://aurangabad.cantt.gov.in portal.

Giving more information, ACB chief executive officer Vikrant More said, "Each section of the board has to answer or respond to complaints registered on the portal. A dashboard of public complaints will be monitored by the DGDE office. So, we will not only have to answer them, but also provide solutions. This is going to make a positive change in providing services to the public. E-Chawni will enhance ease of doing business, citizen can report grievance and avail various services from anywhere and anytime. It will save time and money."

According to the ACB records, they often get complaints about lease renewal, civic issues, among others. “In the coming days, we will address issues pertaining to building plan, lease renewal and land matters via the portal only,” More said. By January 15, all 62 cantonments across the country are expected to start the service. Also, for more information, call the helpline number 0240-2370806 from 10 am to 5 pm to resolve your queries, appealed More.
