The post of the assistant director at the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) town planning department was vacant for many days. The residents were facing severe inconvenience due to lack of officers in the department to get their work done. Lokmat Times had published news in this regard on October 3. Administrator, Astik Kumar Pandey took cognizance and appointed Jayant Kharwadkar as the acting assistant director in the town planning department on Monday.

After the relaxation of the lockdown rules, the work at the town planning department gained momentum. However, the assistant director Ramchandra Mahajan was transferred from the department on deputation but the government did not replace his position with new officer. Hence, the work at the department hampered again. Town planning department is considered the backbone of the corporation''s finances as around Rs 60 crores revenue is collected through It.
