Aurangabad, Nov 11:
The residents staying in Apex Parijat housing society urged the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) to wake up from deep slumber as they are not receiving water in their taps for past three years due to illegal water connections in Shambhunagar and surrounding localities. The residents threatened to go on strike after Diwali, if their plea goes unheard by civic authorities.
In a memorandum submitted to the AMC''s executive engineer (water supply), the residents underlined that they are genuine tax-payers and are staying in the above housing society for more than one decade. Despite being responsible citizens, they deprive of water in their taps due to more than 200 illegal water connections taken by the residents staying in Shambhunagar and surrounding localities, near Trisharan Chowk, on Gadiya Vihar Road. The residents grieved of facing financial burden as they have to hire water tankers due to absence of water supply in their taps.
The residents mentioned raising their voice repeatedly since last many years, but the ground staff or concerned engineers are turning their backs towards the issue for reasons better known to them.
The memorandum was duly signed by architect Sanjay Pathe, former ZP president Lata Pagare, Gajanan Khot, Prashant Saraf, Mangesh Shengule, Nilesh Deshmukh, Nandkishore Kawade and others. The residents also submitted the copy of memoranda to the municipal commissioner A K Pandey, former mayor Nandkumar Ghodele and former deputy mayor Smita Ghogre for their intervention.
