The dean of Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Dr Kanan Yelikar endorsed the tireless services put in by hospital staff (Corona Warriors), so far and appealed to be prepared to tackle the second wave of the Coronavirus.
" Gear up to win the battle again. Do not lose hope, but maintain the spirit of fighting," said the dean.
GMCH presented 1500 appreciation certificates to persons who had worked tirelessly during the Covid-19 pandemic situation in the city. It includes hospital staff from Class I to IV, members of IMA and Physicians Associations, Lion Club and many other organisations. GMCH held the function at the Department of Medicine, and the administration invited very few of them as representatives.
Dr Meenakshi Bhattacharya, Dr Bharat Sonawane, Dr Sudhir Chaudhary, Dr Jyoti Bajaj, Dr Laxmikant Deshmukh, Dr Prabhakar Jirwankar, Dr Avinash Lamb, Dr Vikas Rathod, Dr Amol Joshi, Dr Rajashri Sonawane, matron Vimal Kedar, Sanjeevani Gaikwad, Pooja Jagtap and others were present on occasion.
While guiding the audience, Dr Yelikar said, " Our hospital wasn''t fully prepared when the Coronavirus started to spread. However, we faced the situation outstandingly. Each of them contributed well. Our motto should be to develop a hope amongst the patients, whether he is serious or not, that he will recover the ailment."
Dr Bhattacharya said, " Many organisations, individuals contributed to the health services during the Covid-19 pandemic situation in the city. Indeed, the resident doctors and nurses worked tirelessly. They also contributed in the form of donating masks, providing medicines etc. Hence, we presented 1500 appreciation certificates to such contributors."
