Aurangabad, Nov 2:

The doctors of Government Medical and College Hospital (GMCH) have issued pending 2,000 injury certificates after police served them notice.

It may be noted the section in case registration is fixed, on the basis of injuries received by persons in an accidents or crime.

The injury certificates which are necessary for police to submit it with charge sheet were pending for one and a half years.

The senior police officers learnt the police constables were unable to file the charge sheet in the court in the absence of the certificate and had to make several rounds of the Government Hospital to get it.

This resulted in pendency of crime cases day by day.

On learning this, deputy commissioner of police Nikesh Khatmode set up a squad to collect the certificate from doctor and handover to the police station concerned.

Police personnel sit in GMCH police chowky daily and try to obtain certificate based on MLC. Doctors were served a notice under section 91 of criminal procedure code.

In the notice, the medial officers were warned of registering a case because of which they would not get a passport.

The doctors started issuing the certificate immediately.

The certificates which were pending for the one and half years were also released.

Many doctors who did bond service after the completion of the course leave the hospital after one year service. Their mobile numbers are found switched off. But, they had treated injured patients while working in GMCH.

As the doctors are unreachable, this delays other processes of the court. Taking into consideration, the DCP obtained a list of doctors from Maharashtra Medical Council and started issuing summons to such doctors.
