The department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (O&G) at Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) recorded birth of 28 babies, including 18 baby boys and ten baby girls, on the unique date today (10.10.20). Surprisingly, all these patients were unaware of the unique date.

We have come across a large number of citizens who plan to organise auspicious programmes like marriages, engagement ceremonies, deliveries etc. on the unique dates.

The head of O&G at GMCH, Dr Shrinivas Gadappa said, " On Saturday (from 12 midnight to 5 pm) 28 deliveries had taken place in our hospital. Of which, 18 male babies and ten female babies were born. Of the total 28 deliveries, 17 were normal, and 11 were caesarean." We do not have the trend of performing caesarean on unique dates, he said. Meanwhile, the data on babies born in private hospitals could not be available.

According to a mother Hemlata Thakur she is glad to have delivered a baby girl. " I was not aware of the unique date, but the birth date is indeed easy to remember," she said.

Adds father Shaikh Raees, " I admitted my wife late in the night at GMCH from Tad Pimpalgaon. The due date was after two days, but the normal delivery took place at midnight on Saturday. I had not thought that the birth date of my son would be unique. I was not aware of it. However, with the help of GMCH staff, all is well. I will always remember the day in my life."
